The Philippine local distributor of the Havaianas flip flops is recalling several of its havaianas children’s flip flops following the move in US to recall some children’s havaianas due to violation of paint standards. Reportedly,the decorative paint used in the flip flops contained levels that are in excess of the US federal standards.

Is the Secretary of the Department of Tourism planning to run for a major political position come 2010? I wondered about this after checking out  the web site Awesome Philippines.

I first learned about  Awesome Philippines through a blog post by Tech Pinas. Tech Pinas described Awesome Philippines as the new promo website of the Department of Tourism but after checking out the images in the google ads and the Awesome Philippines banner, I have come to conclude that Awesome Philippines is Ace Durano’s website.

When somebody is making extra effort to get noticed particularly in a time near the elections, I can’t help but think that person is planning to run for a major political position.

So, am I right in saying that the website is promoting Ace Durano and not really the Philippines?

I just wonder though why the footer of the Awesome Philippines site has this: “Copyright 2009 by Philippine Department of Tourism. All rights reserved.” Did the DOT pay for this site? Why make another website when we already have the tourism.gov.ph WOW Philippines site?
